MYRE3-1 The Dragon Reborn

Justiciar D’Estroya, Luckwarder Luck, Caelidh, and Roth Ironheart traveled to Vaasa to investigate the Meatmonger’s possible links to the Red Wizard Zhengyi. They rescued an agent of the Vindicator of Palischuk from chillborn zombies and some gnolls who also happened to be around. He told them of a rumor of a returned Witch-King, then parted ways so the heroes’ location would not be revealed to the Ironfell Council. Nonetheless, they encountered Monsard Kanoath himself at the base of Castle Perilous. As he was also leading a luminary of Telos to investigate the rumors of Zhengyi, he suggested that he and the party cover more ground together, then attacked them while they were occupied with draconic locals. After the luminary was killed, Sir Monsard admitted that he was trying to prevent the Voice of Telos from finding out that he himself had mustered armies under the name of his ancestor, the Witch-King.

Chapter 15: What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse

MYRE3-1 What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse

Kayleth, Prevoss, Luckwarder Luck, Ms. ~kri, a halfling archer, and a dragonbred kobold monk were asked by the Prophet of Helm’s Hold and the church of Sehanine Moonbow to help a deva skald recover from the curse of a thousand spiders set upon him by the spiderkin hag Mnemnia. They were to secure an old tomb of Iliyanbruen and defend it from a likely raider. They immediately found a lich there who turned out to be a good-aligned defender, only provoked into battle by the trickery and torment of demons. They left him intact and heard of his cousin, Veserac Aelorothi, who had joined the daemonfey. They then protected the temple from Sebek-Horus, a scion of the Red Wizard Ankhalab family, and his animated corpse of Hurin Silverblade, the moon elf who had been spying on him. When the fey arrived to use the location and knowledge to remove the curse, they discovered that the lead ritual caster was a surviving sister, Lethia of the dark fey coven. Nonetheless, both sides chose to honor their agreement and parted on peaceful terms.

Alternatively, some say it was Ms. ~kri, Luckwarder Luck, Bharhash, and Therod who recovered the sarcophagus for Gazeem’s Emporium, and Luckwarder Luck, Bharhash, Mole, and Therod who fought the Banite Zhents in the ruins of Zhentil Keep. This version of the story is lent more credence by details that were given: the heroes apparently examined the sarcophagus more carefully than their supposed predecessors, finding Spellplague energy but no overt effects.

Imani, the Sage of Hap, gave a further adventure clue to Ellaria, Elzzup, Kethran, Tik, Grum, and Naz, heroes who had gotten back the Diamond Staff of Chomylla from the Black Network, as well as Dunstan. He had uncovered a remaining treasure cache in the ruins of Zhentil Keep, but more mercenaries were also on their way to claim it. Soon after finding the loot, the adventurers were attacked by goblin wolf riders led by a vampire and a barghest. They killed several and the packmaster attempted to give up the treasure for their lives, but was refused. Afterward, the heroes received a letter from one Vigo the Calishite, a Cyricist Zhent who appreciated their help in purging the remnants of the church of Bane and Maglubiyet from the Black Network.

Taking a break from finding the Meatmonger, a party consisting of Ms. ~kri, Daxis, Dunstan, Grr, Mordecai, and Raz’Ul investigated a haunted mansion. After entering a room and teleporting with a giant snake, Grr found himself facing his only weakness: fellow kobolds, whom he refused to attack. These kobolds were led by a mighty dragonborn from Tymanther and a gold dwarf from the Gemstone chaka of Estagund, along with an abishai who had hired them to clear out the mansion. The kobolds found Grr an easy target since he would not fight back, but his comrades killed all the foes. In particular, Ms. ~kri was certain to try to talk down the dragonborn renegade from the Flaming Fist, and after that failed, recovered her gear. Once this was done, the heroes found the banelar naga’s journal, which claimed that it had power over the other worshipers of Banehold because it knew of the murders the dragonborn had committed to become an exemplar of Tiamat.

Chapter 10: Transitions

MYRE3-1 Transitions

Horn, Vanchu, Bragon, Grr, Lucan, and a mage accepted a job from Lady Sala Nidris to pick up an ancient dwarven sarcophagus from the Sons of Alagondar in an unprotected zone of Neverwinter for a museum in Almraiven. They found a dwarf and the item at the meet site, but were soon attacked by the faction’s kraken, who had escaped through the Chasm and spouted cryptic telepathic warnings. It mauled the two berserkers, but their meat-shielding and blows helped subdue it. To the dwarf’s disappointment, the kraken was killed by the mage’s running fountain of flame before they could drag its unconscious form out. The heroes completed their transaction, but they never found out what had driven the aberration even madder than usual.
